GHANI, WIFE FETED IN CNY DO

JOHOR Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and his wife Datin Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin were among the more than 500 guests feted to a dinner hosted in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration in Tangkak recently.

Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and his wife Datin Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin beating the drum to signify the start of Chinese New Year celebration as well as the inauguration of the basketball stadium at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina SJKC Chi Ming 1 in Tangkak.

Ghani and Jamilah were greeted by Tangkak assemblyman Goh Tee Tee and Ledang member of Parliament Hamim Samuri.

The celebration was made merrier with a lion dance performance and colourful fireworks display.

During the dinner, Ghani also inaugurated a basketball stadium of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Chi Ming 1, which will also serve as a centre of activities for the local community.

A host of cultural performances of various ethnic groups were also featured during the opening ceremony of the stadium.
