THE Entrepreneur Development programme has produced 20 millionaires in Johor.
Besides demonstrating the viability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it also highlighted the SME potential to produce a new breed of entrepreneurs.
Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the programme had nurtured 1,101 entrepreneurs since its inception seven years ago.
He said some 70 per cent of SMEs under the programme had recorded annual sales of between RM500,000 and RM1.5 million.
Besides helping participants to become successful entrepreneurs, he said the programme had also enabled them to become independent.
"The government only helped them to get the equipment and tools necessary for their businesses.
"It is their own efforts that will eventually help them to succeed."
Ghani said this at the Bukit Gambir multi-purpose hall in Muar where he presented blenders, grinders, ovens and other equipment to 46 entrepreneurs from the Ledang and Muar area.
