TANGKAK: Two more escapees from the Bukit Gambir Drug Rehabilitation Centre were captured in a vegetable farm near Sengkang here.
Ledang deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Salleh Abdul Razak said the two were spotted in the farm along Jalan Batu 18 near Sengkang at about 2pm on Saturday.
He said police were now tracking the last of the 21 inmates who escaped from the centre during a riot in which two buildings were razed and a storehouse partially destroyed late on Thursday.
“We are combing the bushes, farmland and plantations near the centre as we believe the last escapee could be hiding in the vicinity.
“We also urge villagers and farmers to help us look for the inmate,” he said yesterday.
On Saturday, an escapee was detained near the centre at about 1am while another was captured in Panchor town late on Friday.
