TANGKAK: Four people were arrested less than four hours after they stole three cows near Sagil here.
Ledang police chief Supt Harun Idris said they were tracking down a fifth suspect, aged 22, who escaped.
“We spotted a lorry with the cows near Sagil at around 3.30am on March 19,” Supt Harun told reporters after presenting certificates of appreciation to 20 policemen and two reporters yesterday.
He said police believed the thieves had used tranquillisers on the cows before loading them onto the lorry as syringes were found on the suspects aged between 17 and 31.
They have been remanded.
Supt Harun said that with the arrests, police believe that they have solved three cases of cow theft in the area.
