LEDANG: A thief who broke into three premises in one night
and carted away items that included a generator was detained in an
operation here.
Ledang police chief Supt Harun Idris said the
unemployed 27-year-old, who is married with two children, was arrested
in Jalan Sialang at about 4pm on May 9.
He said initial
investigations showed that the man had committed four crimes, including
snatch theft in Tangkak on April 14 and looting three houses on April
18.
“We found several stolen items, including two pairs of
branded shoes, a laptop, a digital camera and some jewellery, and the
generator set,” he said.
“We believe his arrest has helped police solve at least five cases,” he said yesterday.
Supt Harun said the man was acting on his own as all his activities were done without any other person's assistance.
He
said the total value of the stolen items found at the man's house was
about RM10,000 and police believed the suspect could have sold some
things, adding that police were tracking down the buyers to determine
the extent of the man's criminal activities.
In another case,
Supt Harun said a Felda settler who returned home at about 2am on Monday
caught a thief in his house in Bukit Serampang.
The 53-year-old saw someone hiding behind some clothes in the storeroom and decided to corner the intruder.
The 17-year-old intruder from the settlement had entered the house through a window and had stolen a handphone.
He has been detained for investigations.
