The canal is 90 per cent complete and is expected to be ready by next month.
It is also expected to increase the farmers' revenue by 30 per cent.
Hamim said the 4.5km canal would irrigate around 120ha of padi fields.
"Farmers can start planting two weeks after the canal is filled with water.
"Before the concrete canal was built, there had been a shortage of water in the padi fields situated furthest from the original irrigation canal," he said.
"This was because the water would usually seep into the ground and not reach the fields."
