A NIGHT patrol programme by 498 Rela members aims to reduce crime in the residential areas of Bukit Gambir.
Ledang Rela officer Mohd Al-Rashidy Amran said the public are
encouraged to join Rela so that they can help maintain the peace and
prevent crimes in their neighbourhoods.
"The night patrol programme will be expanded to the whole district," he said at the launch of the programme and a security briefing at the Bukit Gambir Rela Operation Centre.
The programme was launched by Bukit Gambir assemblyman M. Asojan.
The briefing was conducted by Ledang Criminal Investigation Department head ASP Azmi Ali.
Asojan said each Rela member needs to have great discipline.
This would mirror the agency's spirit and mindset.
He said the role and responsibility of Rela members are important in reducing crime and to ensure that peace and security are maintained.
Asojan also presented Rela in Bukit Gambir with RM6,000 to help in the agency's operations and to buy equipment.
