JOHOR BARU (Bernama): Police found human skeletal remains, believed to be that of a local man who was killed in July, at an oil palm plantation in Tangkak on Saturday (Nov 17) morning.
Johor Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Kamaluddin Kassim said the skeleton was found scattered along with fragments of clothing about 10am.
The discovery followed the arrest of a 23-year-old local man by Kulai police on Friday (Nov 16), who was suspected of being involved in a gang robbery.
"However, yesterday (Nov 17), the suspect confessed to being involved in the murder of a man in July with a friend who is still at large and who had fled in a black Honda City belonging to the victim.
"Acting on the information, the suspect on the same day took the police to an oil palm plantation, Jalan Kilang Lenga Palm Oil, Tangkak to show where the victim's body was dumped," he said in a statement here Sunday (Nov 18).
SAC Kamaluddin said the police would continue to search for evidence in the area to allow investigations.
At the same time, a thorough investigation will be carried out as the suspect was believed to be involved in another case related to the disappearance of a 56-year-old man who had not returned to his home in Kluang since July 14.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
In another development, SAC Kamaluddin believed police can solve several robbery cases in Johor with the arrest of two men on Saturday.
According to him, the 25 and 32-year-old suspects were among three Indonesian men who tried to rob a house in Kampung Parit Pelampung, Gresik, Tangkak at about 2am Saturday.
However, following a struggle with the house owner, one of the suspects was nabbed before being handed over to the police, while another was arrested later following information received by the police. – Bernama
