TANGKAK: Police detained two brothers and seized some
RM10,000 worth of fireworks after raiding a house in Kampung Serom Enam
near Sungai Mati.
Ledang police chief Supt Harun Idris said at
the early morning raid, police found some 200 boxes filled with 23 types
of banned fireworks.
He said two brothers, aged 17 and 19, were
detained to assist investigations carried out under Section 8 of the
Explosive Act 1957.
The orphaned brothers who are employed in a farm nearby were found to be selling the banned items at their home.
Supt
Harun said investigations also showed that the brothers had invested
about RM6,000 to purchase the fireworks which were believed to be
sourced from China.
He added that police are now looking for the
supplier who smuggled the fireworks into the country and had distributed
it to the state.
