LEDANG: A smart partnership between the Social Welfare
Department (JKM) and corporate bodies through the corporate social
responsibility programme is aimed at helping to alleviate the burden of
those in need.
Ledang JKM district officer, Ab Ghani Abu Bakar, said the aid given
through the partnership would help recipients stand on their own feet.
"Sewing machines are among the aid given to help them be independent,"
he said during a presentation ceremony by Bank Rakyat's Ar-Rahnu
X-Change (Tangkak branch) at Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Jalan
Hassan in Tangkak.
The aid was given out by Ledang member of Parliament, Hamim Samuri.
Also present was Tangkak state assemblyman Goh Tee Tee, Ar-Rahnu
X'Change analyst Mohd Helmy Md Salleh and PDK Tangkak treasurer Tan
Chiang Soon.
During the ceremony, Ar-Rahnu X-Change (Tangkak branch) presented a
sewing machine to a single mother, Suria Ahmad, from Taman Intan.
PDK Serom received a refrigerator while PDK Tangkak received a lawn-mower, a wheelchair and books for the trainees.
Ghani said the aid trainees would allow the trainees to climb out of the poverty cycle.
"PDK trainees would be guided by teachers," he said.
