NEW DISTRICT LEDANG TO HAVE OWN POLICE HQ

New district Ledang to have own police HQ

MUAR: Ledang, which was conferred district status by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail last month, will have its own district police headquarters soon.

Johor police chief Deputy Comm Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shairff said the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Musa Hassan, had approved the setting up of the district police headquarters to replace the current Tangkak police station.

A district police chief with the rank of Superintendent will oversee the department.

“Police are in the process of upgrading the Tangkak police station into a district headquarters and identifying an officer to be appointed the Ledang police chief.

“I will submit recommendations on the candidate to the IGP to consider,” DCP Mohd Mokhtar said after launching a Muar-level ‘community policing’ programme for residents in Taman Sri Maharani on Friday night.

He said the current manpower strength at the Tangkak police station was sufficient to serve a district.

As for Pulaijaya, another new district pronounced by the Sultan on July 21, DCP Mohd Mokhtar said it already had its own district police station.
