TANGKAK: An Emergency Ordinance detainee created chaos when he fled from prison wardens at the magistrate’s court here.
Mohd Fitri Himsan Abdul Rahim, 22, who was handcuffed when he was brought to court to hear his case, startled everyone when he dashed out of the courthouse at about 10.40am yesterday.
Mohd Fitri jumped over a fence and dashed towards town with policemen and wardens hot on his heels.
He was eventually spotted by the public at a house in Taman Sagil Jaya, about 10km from Tangkak town, at about 12.50pm. He climbed to the roof of the house before prosecuting officer Insp Hanafi Kasiran persuaded him to give himself up.
Mohd Fitri was later taken to the Tangkak police station and may be charged with attempting to escape.
