EIGHT SCHOOLS IN MUAR ACHIEVE 100% PASSING RATE IN STPM

MUAR: Seven pupils from four secondary schools here had emerged as the district’s top scorers in the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) exams.

They are Lim Sheng Zhang, Lim Hong Ming and Tai Zhong Sheng from Sekolah Tinggi Muar, Ong Shi Yu and Yeo Huei Fang from SMK Datuk Sri Amar Diraja, Law Siew May from (SMK Sultan Abu Bakar) and Toh Ming Tong from SMK Tun Dr Ismail.

Muar Education Department academic unit chief Lumkan Simon said the pupils were invited to the state Education Department in Johor Baru on Wednesday to receive their awards for their achievements in the STPM.

In the exams, Lumkan added that eight schools that achieved a 100% passing rate were SMK Sultan Abu Bakar, SMK Ledang, SMK Tengku Mahkota, SMK Bukit Pasir, SMK Bukit Gambir, SMK Sri Muar, SMK Tengku Mahmud Iskandar and SMK Lenga.

“Most of the seven top students were from the science stream and have scored well in their science subjects,” he said.

Lumkan added that only five students, out of the 727 students who sat for the examination last year, had failed in the STPM.
