“Three men were arrested. One from Pahang, the other from Kluang and another is a 68-year-old Tangkak resident.

“We also found RM5,000 in cash from the house and believed that the items were meant for sale during the Chinese New Year celebration,” he said.

Supt Harun said all three were investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.

He also warned traders here not to trade in the banned items.

In another case, Supt Harun said police detained a 40year-old man and his 21-year-old girl friend, both tested positive for drugs, over some cable theft cases reported in the district late last month.

He said the couple was arrested at a house near Taman Payamas in Tangkak and police also found some rolls of cables, cutters and other tools at about 1am on Jan 11.

He said with the arrest, police believed they have solved some 12 cases related with cable thefts at the Tangkak Industrial Parks in December.

“We also arrested a 20-year-old man who is believed involved in breaking into an in-community rehabilitation centre and the Tangkak Welfare Department office last month.

“With the arrest, we believe we have solved eight cases of house break-ins committed last year,” he added.
