Tangkak rep to do a post mortem

Tee: I must thank the people for the opportunity.

JOHOR BARU (March 12, 2008): Newly-elected Tangkak assemblyman Goh Tee Tee will perform a post mortem to find out the reason for his low winning majority.

The 52-year-old MCA Ledang division chairman, who won by a majority of 295, said he could serve the people better by knowing what went wrong.

Asked about his feelings when the votes were being counted, he said he was tense and worried when he heard the bad news of his component party members either losing or winning with low majorities.

“I could not believe it when I was announced the winner.

“I must thank the people for the opportunity given to me,” he said, adding that he will serve the people of Tangkak to prove he was worthy of their votes.

Goh said he would visit his people regularly for dialogues to understand their needs and problems.

Goh is the MCA Ledang division chairman and has been a member of the party for 18 years.

He polled 7,130 votes, defeating DAP’s Lee Fu Haw who obtained 6,835 votes.
