ROBBERY SHOCK FOR NEWLYWEDS

THE joy of a newly-wed couple and their family members were short-lived as their house at Kampung Sagil Parit Dua in Tangkak, Muar, was broken into by armed robbers early in the morning of May 2.

The couple, Mohd Fariz Mohd Noor and Siti Rabiah Safian, both 27 were in their room when they heard Siti Rabiah's mother shouting.

"My brother in-law, Mohd Fitri, 17, had wanted to go to the toilet but was shocked to see the kitchen door opened before several robbers suddenly stormed in," said Mohd Fariz.

"The robbers tied our legs and hands with clothes and wires while threatening to harm us if we did not follow their instruction."

He said the robbers ransacked their house for about an hour.

"They escaped with RM4,380 in cash and RM11,000 worth of jewellery and mobile phones."

Meanwhile, Siti Rabiah's mother, Hamidah Mokhtar, 57, said she was still in trauma after the incident.

The masked robbers, believed to be Indonesians, had destroyed the back door before breaking in.
