SCINCE FAIR A HIT

By BEH YUEN HUI

JOHOR BARU: The inaugural Science Fair for Young Children received an overwhelming response from 500 Tamil schools students.

Johor Unity, Human Resource, Science, Technology and Innovation committee chairman M. Asojan said the programme enabled the children to be exposed to science at an early age.

“For the first time, such a big-scale science fair is being held for the Tamil schools students.

“I hope these children will benefit and build up interest in the field through the programme,” he said.

This is the way: S. S. Thanesh and his schoolmates from SJK (T) Ladang Lambak explaining to Asojan about their project.

Asojan said he would suggest to the state government to be among the sponsors in the future.

But for this, he personally forked out RM12,000 as a token of encouragement for more of such programmes to be organised for the children.

A science experiment competition was held during the fair with 66 teams from 56 schools competing for the top places.

The 15 winning teams will be representing Johor in a nationwide science competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur next month.

Teams from SJK (T) Masai were crowned the Johor champion and first runner-up in the contest, followed by SJK (T) Bukit Serampang, SJK (T) Ladang Lambak and SJK (T) Ladang Pelepah.

SJK (T) Kangar Pulai won the Best Boot Display award.
