'HAUNTED' KAMPUNG HOUSE FEATURED IN MYSTICAL MOVIE

TANGKAK: An obscure kampung here will be featured in a Malaysian mystical movie to be screened early next year.

Shooting of Gentayangan: Datangku dijemput in Kampung Serom Tiga was carried out in an old Malay house left vacant for years.

Executive producer Rashdan Baba said the house looked haunted and the production company decided to use it after discussions with the village authority and residents.

Rashdan, who is also acting in the movie produced by Secondlife Pictures Sdn Bhd, said: ”We have selected several locations, including Malacca, and hope to complete shooting in 45 days.”

The movie features veteran and new actors including Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin, Kuswadinata, Rusdi Ramli, Afidah Es and Yasmin Hani.

Directed by the young and talented Zulkifli M. Osman, the movie is set to thrill viewers during the Chinese New Year next year.

Rashdan said more that than 65 crew members, including production and stunt teams, were involved in the movie estimated at RM2.5mil.

He said it was about mystical powers but also carried religious messages.

He said it was a movie about good versus evil and how four graduates followed one of their friends to his village and encountered evil spirits.

The company picked chose a plot that was popular among moviegoers not only in the region, but in Europe and the United States as well.

The movie depicting black magic, evil spirits and ghosts would be monitored by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department, or Jakim, he said.
