JOHOR SEEKS MORE YOUNG QURANIC EXPERTS

TANGKAK: The state government wants more young Quranic teachers so that they can be posted to each constituency in the state.

Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said these Quranic experts would play a vital role in teaching and promoting the Quran and its contents among youths.

He said those who mastered the Quran would be sent to higher learning institutions, either in the country or overseas, to further their knowledge.

“The state government has been promoting Quran recital among the people for the past 12 years and we want to produce more Quranic teachers.

“We hope after they complete their studies in four or five year’s time, we can send them to the districts and to every state constituency,” he said before presenting Hari Raya aid to orphans, poor people and special children in Serom near here on Friday.

He said this would also encourage people to learn and understand the Arabic language.

He added that many could read the Quran but did not understand the language.

Earlier, Abdul Ghani and wife Datin Paduka Prof Jamilah Arifin presented Hari Raya aid to some 200 orphans, hardcore poor and special children in Ledang.
