MOVE TO MAKE TANGKAK FURNITURE CITY

WORKS are under way to transform the 130ha Tangkak industrial site into a Furniture City and Ledang administrative centre.

Tangkak district council president Asmail Abdul Kadir said the council had approved its layout plans, adding the multi-million projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan were expected to complete in five years.

He said a permanent furniture exhibition showroom of international standard would be built to enable manufacturers and traders from all over the world to display their latest designs under one roof.

Asmail, who is also the Ledang district officer, said the council had also taken steps to upgrade the infrastructural development in its industrial sites at Bukit Gambir, Grisik, Gunung Ledang tourism resort and the Kesang recreational centre, near Johor-Malacca border.

"The council is going all out to woo local and foreign investors to spearhead its industrial and tourism industry," he said at the opening of its branch office at Tanjung Agas here recently.

Also present were the Muar Municipal Council president Abdul Wahab Ridwan and Tangkak district councillors and senior officers.
