TANGKAK: Three girls aged between six and 15 were raped in separate incidents here within a span of seven hours.

In the first case, Ledang police chief Supt Harun Idris said a six-year-old girl claimed that her 24-year-old cousin grabbed her while she was asleep at 1pm on Tuesday and took her to a rubber plantation where he forced himself on her.

“We rushed a team out to arrest the cousin. He is now under remand,” he said yesterday.

Supt Harun said the second case involved a 66-year-old man accused of raping a friend's daughter, aged 10, behind a shop at about 6pm.

He said the girl, whose father ran a restaurant, lodged a report and police managed to detain the suspect later that night.

In the third case, he said a 15-year-old girl lodged a report against a 20-year-old man but police had yet to make any arrest.

Police believe they were friends and that the alleged rape took place in the man's house.

On another matter, Supt Harun said the Ledang narcotics branch had arrested two men and seized about RM150,000 worth of drugs when a team raided a house in Rawang on Oct 8.

He said both men, aged 20 and 34, were unemployed.

“We found several types of drugs including heroin, syabu, Ecstasy and ketamine and RM4,000 cash.”

In JOHOR BARU, a pasar malam peddler was sentenced to five years in jail by a Sessions Court for committing statutory rape on his then 13-year-old girlfriend.

Roslan Zakaria, 30, pleaded guilty to two charges of the offence that took place at his house in Jalan Saujana, Plentong between Aug 10 and 13. He married the girl last month.

Judge Zamri Bakar sentenced him to jail from the date of the arrest on Sept 9 and ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
