TANGKAK: Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman wants the state police to track down the man who stabbed three children in Muar on Monday.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, he said the criminal should be arrested for targeting children below 10 and causing injuries to them.
He said the public too should go all out in helping the police track down the criminal who was reported to be wearing a colourful full-face helmet when riding his motorcycle.
“I was told by the police that they have deployed additional manpower from Johor Baru to Muar to help track the criminal,” he said after accompanying his wife Datin Paduka Prof Jamilah Ariffin to present Chinese New Year gifts to poor and special people.
Three children aged between five and nine were stabbed at Jalan Bakariah and Jalan Sakeh in Muar recently.
In one incident T. Kuhan, aged nine, from Jalan Bakariah, was stabbed on the back by a motorcyclist while walking home at about 6.50pm. About 10 minutes later the motorcyclist went to Jalan Sakeh and stabbed five-year-old Lee Kang Long and nine-year-old Toh Khar Hui near a kindergarten.
Abdul Ghani said it was vital for police to detain the criminal as soon as possible and also to determine whether the man had mental problem.
