MOTHER AND SON KILLED IN CRASH

TANGKAK: A woman and her son were killed after the car driven by her husband crashed into the back of a truck along KM143 of the North-South Expressway near here.

Chuah Bee Yang, 44, and Ng Gau Heng, 14, died on the spot, while Ng Teong Boon, 45, and the couple’s three other children suffered injuries. The truck driver escaped unscathed.

The family, which hails from Taiping but live in Singapore, was returning to the island republic when the incident happened at about 9.15pm on Thursday.

According to a relative, Chuah and Ng worked in Singapore with two different financial institutions and were supposed to start work on Friday.

A team of firemen from Tangkak rushed to the crash site and managed to extricate the bodies of the two dead victims within about 15 minutes.

Ng Xui Lim, aged six, was rushed to the Muar hospital with a broken leg but was later transferred to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
