A 20KM midnight chase by a Ledang police patrol car ended abruptly when the suspect's car had a flat tyre.

A 30-year-old driver from Negri Sembilan was detained while his accomplice escaped into the bush.

Ledang police chief Superintendent Harun Idris said the cream-coloured l.5cc Spectra was reported stolen in Negri Sembilan in April. The number plate was stolen from another car.

Harun said three Ledang policemen in a patrol car spotted the car being driven in a suspicious manner at Tanjung Gading on Nov 2 and ordered the driver to stop. He accelerated and the patrol car gave chase on the Muar-Tangkak highway.

He said the car stopped suddenly when its right rear tyre was punctured.

He said police nabbed the driver on the spot while his accomplice escaped on foot into the bush.

Harun said police seized an assortment of house-breaking tools including a cutter, a parang sheathe and an iron rod.
