FOUR ARRESTED IN ECSTASY BUST

JOHOR BARU: Police busted a drug processing and trafficking syndicate and seized RM500,000 worth of Ecstasy pills, along with the arrest of four people.

The authorities raided a house in Gerisek, Muar, at about 11pm on July 16 and arrested a man and a woman, aged 27 and 23 following a tip-off.

Equipments used to process Ecstasy, 273gm of Ecstasy powder and 34 pills were also confiscated during the raid.

Police then arrested a 49-year-old man in Sg Mati in Ledang at around 3am the next day and seized 20 ecstasy pills from his Proton Wira.

Subsequent investigations led police to another house, which had been used as a processing laboratory, in Taman Sri Saujana, Muar, where they arrested a 31-year-old Chinese female national.

A total of 10,967 Ecstasy pills and 6kg of Ecstasy powder were seized from the premises along with equipment.

Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the syndicate had been operating for a year, supplying drugs to users in the state.

“We are investigating further to uncover the mastermind behind the operation,” he told reporters here yesterday.

In an unrelated case, DCP Mohd Mokhtar said police detained two men believed to be responsible for several robberies while impersonating as policemen.

The suspects, aged 30 and 37, were caught after police inspected their Toyota Vios at Taman Industri Plentong on July 21 and found army and police caps, two toy pistols and a steel cutter.

In another case, police said they were looking for a 39-year-old Sri Lankan national named Sri Langka Sam, also known as Mohammad Razue, to assist in investigations into the murder of former Tenggaroh assemblyman Datuk S. Krishnasamy.
