When residents of Kampung Anjung Batu in Tangkak went closer to have a look, they discovered that he was actually dead.

The man, identified as Norasazaman Borhan, 31, is believed to have parked his motorcycle by the roadside and walked into the jungle before falling into the drain.

Ledang police chief superintendent Harun Idris said initial investigations revealed no signs of foul play.

"He had climbed out of the drain but fell again and landed on his knees," Harun said.

The man is believed to have been dead for about 24 hours. His motorcycle was found 50m away from the scene.

Harun also said the victim, of Kampung Asahan in Malacca, was also wanted by the police to facilitate investigations into a robbery case.

He was recently released after serving time for a drug-related offence.
