It is learnt that the incident, which took place in the vicinity of Rumah Awam Serom 4 in Ledang, was caused by a project that was not in compliance with standard building specifications.

To make things worse, one of the concrete walls crumbled on a nearby surau.

A resident, Murad Jaafar, 54, said that the walls were built six months ago.
He also said that one of the concrete walls was found in a drain while another was just waiting to crumble.

Murad added that the collapsed wall in the drain was hampering sewerage and rain water from smoothly flowing and could cause flash floods during a heavy downpour.

"The local authorities should look into the matter carefully to avoid a tragedy or anything unpleasant from happening.

"The weakened concrete from the project crumbles everytime heavy vehicles passes by," he said.

Murad, who is also Rumah Awam Serom 4, Ledang Umno chief, said that the affected contractor should not ignore the incident, but instead should rectify the problem.

Umno Serom 6 chief, Hamidi Yassin who was at the site of the incident cautioned that any delay in rebuilding the walls might cause serious problem.
